The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for Civil Litigation Paralegals to work within our highly regarded litigation department in a leading law firm with a significant regional and national client base. Acting for predominantly commercial clients, we have conduct of medium to high value property disputes and commercial & general litigation matters, representing clients as claimant or defendant.
The team’s workload is varied and challenging. This is an entry level role for an academically strong candidate, or someone who has gathered some legal experience and is already looking to develop their legal skills set. This is a great opportunity to join a firm that is renowned for valuing employee progression and development. You will be supported and mentored in your training and development both informally and formally. There will be excellent career progression opportunities. Several of our current assistant solicitors started at MLR as paralegals. Alternatively, secretaries have developed into a long-term paralegal role.
You will be exposed to high quality work supporting the Litigation fee earners in carrying out their respective duties and responsibilities. This will include, but not be limited to:
- Meeting with new clients with the fee earner, making attendance notes and preparing any follow up correspondence and handling any queries
- Dealing with new client enquiries and liaising with the fee earners for case allocation
- Liaising with clients, other parties’ legal representatives, the court and other third parties
- Conducting legal and open-source research and preparing briefing notes for the fee earner
- Assisting in preparing court bundles, uploading bundles electronically
- Instructing counsel
- Working to tight deadlines
- Supporting fee earners in the department with their caseload on an ad hoc basis.
In addition to having excellent academics, applicants will be expected to have exemplary organisational and IT skills, with a keen eye for detail. They must also be a quick learner and ready and willing to assist the team with any paralegal and administrative tasks required in a calm and efficient manner.
