A survey commissioned by Acas has found that 18% (nearly 1 in 5) of UK employers are likely to make redundancies in the next 12 months.
The survey found that large companies – those with more than 250 employees – are more likely to make redundancies, with 30% considering so in the next year. This compared with 10% of small and medium sized employers.
It is advised that employers consider all possible options before making redundancies, and employers need to be aware of their redundancy consultation obligations.
